Whether it’s Italian or English, you can express yourself in the language in which you are most at ease. I’ll take care of making communication happen: I interpret the meaning of your message, translating it from English to Italian or from Italian to English accurately, fully, and effectively, with respect for how you communicate.
Depending on the type of event, we will choose the best type of interpreting for you:
Perfect for events with a large audience like conferences, seminars, and congresses. I sit in a soundproof booth with a headset and microphone with a view of the room (even if on a screen). I hear in the headset what the speaker is saying, and I translate it in real time with a minimal time lapse. The audience listens to the translation in Italian or English through earpieces or headsets. For events over an hour long, I work in pairs with another colleague, with whom I alternate about every 30 minutes to ensure optimal translation.
I can use simultaneous interpreting for online events – like webinars and meetings – using specific platforms equipped with interpreting functions.
The best choice for short events like press conferences and presentations with a single speaker – who speaks English, for instance – addressing an Italian audience. In these cases, I do not translate in a soundproof booth but sit or stand next to the speaker with a notepad and pen.
While the speaker speaks for 5–10 consecutive minutes in their language, I take notes. As soon as they are done speaking, I recreate the speech in another language. This is why we say that consecutive interpreting happens in two times. If someone from the audience would like to speak, I translate in real time for the foreign speaker, whispering in his or her ear (whispered interpreting or chuchotage).
Perfect for short events when everyone will use the same language and only one or up to three people need translation. I stand or sit next to those who will listen to the translation and translate in real time whispering in their ears.
This is perfect for trade fairs, company visits, B2B meetings, bilateral meetings between a limited number of people (usually two) in whichthe communication exchanges are at the pace of conversation.
Actors and actresses, directors, producers, and film distributors during press conferences, interviews, Q&A sessions, and film presentations at the 2019 and 2020 Alice nella Città film festival, a parallel event of the Rome Film Festival.
Rudolph Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, in a remote interview.
Athletes and former athletes for workshops and interviews within the European Masters Athletics Festival.
University professors of criminal law, criminology, philosophy, and veterinary medicine during conferences and university accreditation visits.
Psychologists, jurists, lawyers, judges, restorative justice mediators, victims and perpetrators of armed violence, political terrorism, sexual violence, and racial discrimination during webinars, meetings, public and confidential meetings, and conferences, including the 11th International Conference on Restorative Justice.
In October of 2019 I was attending Rome film festival where a movie of mine was premiering. After attending a few film festivals in my acting career, it was my second time to be attending a foreign film festival, first time in Italy. It was also the first time I really had an opportunity to have an interpreter for me and film crew on all stages of the festival. Laura Cavalli was the one who made mine and other cast members voices heard and understood for the Italian audience, and I can really say that she did a fantastic job! Not only was she very fast with translating my answers and sharing them to the audience, but she also made a very pleasant and warm atmosphere which for me is even more important for a great and relaxed working environment! Compared to my previous experiences with other translators, Laura was very practical in her work and also a very good listener. Even if my English was not that good and I couldn’t find words to describe my thoughts, she helped me find them and later share them with others which I personally think made my answers sound better! The same goes for translating the questions we received. But what I really remember and truly admire was her kindness with us and her friendly mood which made us all feel comfortable and happy. Because of that we became and remained very good friends till this day for which I am very grateful.

I had a chance to meet Ms. Laura Cavalli at the visit to the EAEVE Commission at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Teramo from November 8 to 12, 2021. She was very well-prepared, professional, and able to work many hours consecutively in teams. She is collaborative and has excellent problem-solving skills. Her solid training is clear when applied in the field. An excellent interpreting service ENG/ITA, ITA/ENG!
Francesca Vaccarelli – Associate Professor of English Language and Translation at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, University of Teramo
The European Forum for Restorative Justice (Belgium) had the opportunity to work on different occasions with Laura. In May 2021, she offered her interpretation service during a webinar on the restorative circles organised in Lecco during the Covid-19 pandemic (English to Italian and Italian to English). In October 2021, Laura and her colleagues provided their service during a unique virtual Encounter with victims and former combatants of the extreme violence in the Basque Country, Italy, Northern Ireland and Israel/Palestine (Italian, English, and Spanish). On both occasions, Laura demonstrated to have amazing language skills which go beyond the mere vocabulary of the specific field we are working on. She is a good, compassionate listener, able to connect really well the speakers to their audience. We are looking forward to working again with Laura, also at our upcoming (live!) conference in June 2022 (English to Italian and Italian to English).
Emanuela Biffi - Programme Coordinator at European Forum for Restorative Justice
In the realm of research projects, we drew on Ms. Cavalli’s services as a translator of written texts and audiovisual material of technical and legal content, as well as an interpreter for complex, sensitive talks between participants in restorative justice processes. We were very pleased with her excellent translation service and excellent interpreting. We are sure to turn again to this well-trained, skilled, reliable, and sensitive professional.

There are no standard prices for an interpreting service because so many variables come into play (How many languages are involved? How many interpreters are needed? How many days does the event last? What is the subject? Is it an urgent project? Does the interpreter need to travel outside the region or fly abroad? And the list goes on). Every project is unique.
To give you an idea of how much you might spend to include in your budget under the “interpreter” item:
It should go without saying that you will make a difference! By working with me – a professional in intercultural communication – you will enhance the impression you make on others, including your audience, your customers, and international partners who will see that you are someone who leaves nothing to chance, pays attention to details, and aspires to optimal quality.
You will have no added agency costs because you will have direct contact with me and will know right away that I will devote myself to your project heart and soul.
Contact me using the form below. I will get back to you with a questionnaire that helps me collect the information I need to prepare an exact quote that is clear and complete. At this point, you should already know the exact date that the event will take place, the languages involved, the topic discussed (try to be as specific as possible), and how long it lasts.
If you have never organized an event with multiple languages and would rather talk to me, book a free consultation. I would be delighted to answer your questions and help you.
Absolutely. As an interpreter, I am bound to professional secrecy. I keep in the strictest confidence all the information I come into contact with before, during, and after the event. I assure utmost professionalism as I abide absolutely by the profession’s code of ethics and the professional code of Assointerpreti, the Italian interpreters association. I am also pleased to sign a non-disclosure agreement for you if you like.
The earlier you can contact me, the better. The preparation time for assignments varies widely: It could be 3 days, a week or 2 months. To ensure you get the best quality service, I must study the event’s topic in depth, prepare one or more glossaries in Italian and English and memorize them, study the bios of the speakers, the schedule of their speeches, and any other material you provide (such as slides, presentations, programs, etc.), watch speaker videos – if available – to familiarize myself with their speaking style, accent, and speed of speech, practice the type of interpreting chosen by choosing videos on the topic.
Payment is made by bank transfer as follows. When you accept the quote, you make an advance payment of 30% of the total amount. After the event is completed, I will issue an invoice that is due within 30 days for the remaining 70%.
No, I’m sorry. There are no discounts on the base rate (except for social interpreting for NGOs and volunteer associations). But I do have some good news. You can pay in installments to make the expense easier to manage.
Interpretation is a highly specialized job that requires special training in interpreting techniques and entails a great deal of responsibility. The investment for an interpreting service is not based on the number of people who will use the translation or how long the event lasts (unless it is an hour-long meeting for which I apply my hourly rate).
There are many reasons that the service’s cost is calculated based on a 7-hour day and is non-divisible;
All of this has the single aim of ensuring you get top-quality interpreting.
These are the factors behind a quote for interpreting:
Yes, I'll take care of it! I draw on a network of trusted, experienced colleagues. We make an excellent team!
Of course! I can travel to meet you abroad, provide remote interpreting or support you on your trip from Italy to a foreign country to help you communicate with the local people.
If you agree that a mistake or wrong choice can undermine your project, make your hard work in vain, and cost you a lot (much more than my interpreting service), don’t opt for a do-it-yourself approach if you can “get by” in Italian or English. Your project deserves so much more!
Get in touch with me and I will carefully assess what you need: I will suggest the solution that is best for your event to achieve your professional objectives tied exclusively to your individual case.
You can contact me whenever you like, and I will respond from Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM CEST, excluding holidays.
I always try to answer as quickly as possible, generally within 24 hours. When I am out of the office or on vacation, you will get an automated response.
I'm Laura Cavalli and I interpret and translate Italian, English, and Spanish for people who want to reach across languages and cultures to share knowledge, stories, and experiences, expanding their horizons.
